After getting the baseline model completed I used Decal Machine to add decals and trim sheets to areas of my model that required more detail. I learned that decals are a perfectly good alternative for UV unwrapping when it comes to concept art and how impactful they can be on the final render.

I modeled this sci-fi themed head in Blender and used the following Blender

add-ons: Boxcutter, HardOps, and Decal Machine based off of a tutorial. I started with a classic Blender sphere and used the specifically Boxcutter to cut directly into the sphere to create the general shape of the head. I did not follow the traditional quad-based workflow that I am used to, instead opting to use a new framework I have been learning called the MAD-T workflow that allows for n-gons. I spent a lot of time fixing shading issues formed the n-gons that were formed as a result of these cuts and, in turn, learned a lot about shading and how to fix the issues stemming from this workflow
